Woodrow Wilson Guthrie (Okemah, Oklahoma, July 14, 1912 – New York, October 3, 1967), known as Woody Guthrie , was a musician and American folk singer-songwriter. Prolific and influential, he was known for his identification with ordinary people, the poor and the oppressed, as well as against fascism and all human exploitation. He is universally known for his song “This Land Is Your Land».

His music influenced artists such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Bruce Springsteen, Robert Hunter, Harry Chapin, John Mellencamp, Pete Seeger, Joe Strummer, Billy Bragg, Jerry Garcia, Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy. He is the father of musician Arlo Guthrie.
