William Glasser (Cleveland, Ohio, May 11, 1925 – Los Angeles, California, August 23, 2013) was an American psychiatrist.

He received the degree of doctor of medicine (MD) in 1953, and then completed a residency in psychiatry during the years 1954 to 1957 at UCLA, and the Veterans Hospital of Los Angeles in California. He was certified by the board of psychiatry in 1961. San Francisco University awarded him an honorary degree in 1990. In 2003, he received the Professional Development Award from the American Association of Counselors (a.c.a.); in 2004, he received the award “Leyenda de la Consejería” of the aca, and in 2005, the distinction as “Master Therapist” of the American Psychotherapy Association (apa), and the Lifetime Award of Merit of the International Center for Psychotherapy.
