Vince Neil Wharton (February 8, 1961 in Hollywood, California) is the lead singer of the heavy metal and glam metal band Mötley Crüe.

Vince_Neil’s Biography

Vince Neil was born in Hollywood (California) in a middle-low class family. Vince has Mexican descent from maternal (Shirley Ortiz) and American from father (Clois Wharton). In the 60s, his family moved to the southwest of California (Watts), to a marginal neighborhood. That’s where he began to develop a certain sympathy for fights and drugs, discovering later (about 10-13 years) what sex was. Finally, when their parents realized that this was not the best environment in which to educate their children, they moved to Glendora. Vince attended Sunflower Intermediate School and later, at Royal Oak High School. In the latter he met Tommy Lee, however, at that time they never shared much between them.

Vince never had much interest or success in high school. He only attended classes that interested him (which at that time were “music” and “art”). His hobbies were: music, surfing and women. At age 15, Vince was the father of a child they called Neil. Her parents took care of him and educated him and Vince’s parents paid him alimony. Vince did not see his son again until several years later.

Vince began his musical career in the Sunset Strip area of Los Angeles, with his Rock Candy band, which already had a certain reputation. However, in 1981 the guitarist and the bassist began to put aside Vince and the drummer. That was the beginning of the Mötley Crüe we know today. Mick Mars was not convinced by the singer they had and he told Tommy that he wanted “that pretty rocky guy from Rock Candy” and that’s how Vince got into Mötley Crüe.

Marriages

His first marriage was at the beginning of his career with the Crüe. He married Beth Lynn, with whom he had his second child. In 1985 the couple divorced after Vince left prison for the involuntary manslaughter of his friend Nicholas Dingley, nicknamed “Razzle”. Beth emptied the house they shared completely and took her son with her before her husband got out of prison.

His second marriage was in 1987 with Sharise Ruddell, a clay fighter and model who appeared in the music video for Girls, Girls, Girls. The result of that marriage was Skylar, who died at four years of age due to a tumor that spread through almost all of his organs. The couple divorced in 1993.

His third marriage was in 2000 with the Playboy Bunny Heidi Mark. After seven years of courtship the couple decided to get married but they only lasted a year as married. In 2001 the love was over and they divorced.

His fourth marriage was with Lia Gerardini in 2005. Vince announced his separation in 2010.

Currently in 2014 Vince is romantically linked to make-up artist Rain Hannah Andreani with whom she hopes to stabilize herself in the love part.

Gender violence

In 2011 he beat and threatened his ex-girlfriend Alicia Jacobs in a casino in Las Vegas, in the presence of two friends of hers, one of whom is a journalist in the newspaper Las Vegas Sun. The singer pleaded guilty in court for a misdemeanor offense of public order to avoid a higher charge.

In 2016, I physically attacked Kelly Guerrero, a nurse I left in the hospital because of the attacks. The nurse was with her son when he saw that Nicholaes Cage was present with the singer, and after asking for an autograph to the actor was when Vince Neil attacked her. This incident of gender violence was recorded on video.

Popularity

In 1981, Mötley Crüe released their first album without the help of any record company and quickly sold more than 20,000 copies, which made the record labels look at them and quickly sign them. In 1983, they released Shout at the Devil, a commercial success that established the band as one of the most important glam metal of the 80’s. In 1984, after a tour with Ozzy Osbourne, Neil suffered a car accident caused by excess alcohol in Redondo Beach, California. The passenger in his DeTomaso Pantera, Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley, drummer of Hanoi Rocks, died as a result.

Beth Lynn and Neil divorced in 1985, and that same year, after serving a short sentence in prison, Neil met with Mötley Crüe for the recording of Theater Of Pain. He recorded a new album with Mötley Crüe: Girls, Girls, Girls, released in 1987, and married Sharise Ruddell in April 1988. The band released their most successful album, Dr. Feelgood, in 1989, after going through a process of rehabilitation for drug addiction. During the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, Neil had a fight with Izzy Stradlin, guitarist of Guns N ‘Roses, because he had harassed his wife. Neil hit Izzy, which caused Axl Rose to get into the fight. Later, Axl composed Shotgun Blues, a song where he challenges Vince Neil to a fight, he replied but the fight was never carried out.

In 1991 they release their compilation album Decade of Decadence, where they review their entire career until that moment. Months later Vince announces that he leaves the band, although on the part of the group it is declared that Neil was expelled. What happened really only they know.

Return to Mötley Crüe

For 1997 the success of Neil’s career as a soloist and that of his former band Mötley Crüe was in mutual decline, so Neil accepted his invitation to return to the group. They released the Generation Swine album before tension between the members caused Tommy Lee to leave the group. He was replaced with Randy Castillo, who died of cancer in 2002.

Solo career

As it was said Neil separated (or was cast) from Mötley Crüe to begin a solo career, starting in February 1992. In the band’s autobiography, The Dirt, it is said that he was fired because he showed more interest in car racing than in the group (he participated in Indy Lights at the time). Some of the musicians Neil recruited after his dismissal were Steve Stevens (former Billy Idol guitarist and founder of Atomic Playboys), Dave Marshall, Robbie Crane and Vik Foxx. In the middle of 1993 its debut like soloist, Exposed was released. He sold only about 300,000 copies in the US, almost the same amount that the album Mötley Crüe sold in 1994, which the band recorded with the vocalist John Corabi (previously in The Scream). All of Mötley Crüe’s previous albums had sold at least a million copies.

Sharise Ruddell and Vince Neil divorced in 1993. Two years later, their daughter, Skylar Neil, died of cancer. In 1995 Neil released Carved in Stone, an album with an industrial / glam metal sound produced by the Dust Brothers. The album sold less than 100,000 copies in the USA. and Neil’s contract with Warner Bros. eventually came to an end. Some versions of the album include “Skylar’s Song” written only by Neil.

In May 2000, Neil married the playmate Heidi Mark. They divorced in August 2001. As a regular customer of the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in July 2003, Neil was charged with assault after a prostitute claimed he took her by the throat and threw her against a wall. A year earlier, Neil had declared nolo contendere to the accusations of having beaten producer Michael Schuman. Also in 2002, Neil was in the cast of the first season of The Surreal Life.

In 2003, Vince Neil appeared as a soloist on the “Rock Never Stops Tour” along with other hard rock bands of the 80’s. That same year he released his third solo album, recorded live, Live at the Whiskey: One Night Only. Neil married Lia Gerardini in January 2004, the ceremony was officiated by the minister and also part of the cast of The Surreal Life, MC Hammer. In 2004, Vince appeared again on television for the special program Remaking Vince Neil (Remaking Vince Neil), which showed him trying to achieve success as a soloist, however, it was Mötley Crüe who received the re-release to success , since Neil and Tommy Lee put aside their differences and the band went on tour to promote the album Red, White and Crüe.

On June 30, 2006, during a concert in Tampa (Florida), Vince Neil fell off the stage due to intoxication. The other vocalist of Mötley Crüe, John Corabi, who was touring with Ratt, took the stage to continue the concert with Neil, although John sang almost all that remained of the show, while Vince’s words were almost unintelligible.

On January 8, 2007 it was announced that Vince would tour Australia in late March and early April, performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The tour was canceled on March 6, 2007 due to lack of ticket sales.

At the beginning of 2010, a South American tour was confirmed, which included countries such as Chile on February 24 at the Teatro Caupolican, Argentina on February 26 at the El Teatro theater and Brazil on February 27 at the Carioca venue.
