Vengaboys

Vengaboys is a eurodance group from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, created in 1997 by the duo of Dutch producers Dennis van den Driesschen and Wessel van Diepen better known as Danski & amp; DJ Delmundo.

Vengaboys’s Biography

Some of his hits are «Up and Down», «Uncle John From Jamaica», «We’re Going to Ibiza», «Boom Boom Boom Boom» and «We Like to Party». A guest singer from Spain, from a previous project of the producers called Nakatomi, continually used the expression “Come” in their songs. This is how they decided to use that expression for their next project: Vengaboys.

Even though they were never highly acclaimed, the group was reaping successes that were very different from Eurobeat (even the video “Kiss” has dancers from ParaParaAllStars, doing the dance), following in the footsteps of former Dutch groups such as 2 Unlimited. The work was growing and at the beginning of the year 2000 it had reached the fourth place among the ten best, including two numbers (“Boom Boom Boom Boom” and “We’re Going to Ibiza”).

The success of the group continued during the first years of the 21st century with The Platinum Album (their second album, two years after the release of the first), ranking among the top 10 best-selling albums, from which came three singles («Kiss »,« Shala Lala »and« Uncle John From Jamaica ») and two less successful songs,« Cheekah Bow-Bow (that computer song) », which included the fifth virtual member of the band, the robot Cheekah, and the ballad «Forever As One», which gained more notoriety for the video, which was altered after the group used unlicensed images of them knowing the Westlife group. In mid-2001, and after 10 singles of success, the group disintegrated and returned to sing in clubs. The band dissolves at the beginning of 2004, nevertheless, two years later the band reunites (except for Roy) and they began a tour by Europe.

The theme “We Like to Party” has been used to promote the Six Flags amusement parks nationwide in the United States, where an elderly man is shown dancing the theme and tackling the attractions of the park.

In mid-June 2010, they returned with the unpublished video and song «Rocket to Uranus» that was circulated on the internet, and gave a few concerts in different events and clubs until approximately March 2011.

In 2013 they returned with their new single «Hot, Hot, Hot» (version) that featured a music video on the band’s YouTube page.

In 2014 they made a new version of «To Brazil!» on the occasion of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, entitled «2 Brazil!».
