Unni Menon (n. in Guruvayur on December 2, 1957), is a singer of playback or reproduction of Indian films. He has performed for more than 3000 songs in indigenous languages of the south such as Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. In the first part of his career, he spent many years dedicating himself as a playback singer. The turning point in his career came when he performed a musical track titled “Pudhu Vellai Mazhai”, which was written and composed by Mani Ratnam in 199. For Tamil cinema, he performed a musical theme for “Red” film, written and composed by AR Rahman. He has frequently partnered with AR Rahman, to record and publish 25 songs in memorable films such as Karuththamma (1994) and Minsaara Kanavu (1997).

Unni Menon was born on December 2, 1957 in Guruvayoor, a temple in the city of Thrissur district of Kerala. Son of VKS Menon, a police officer from Tamil Nadu, a native of Valanchery in Malappuram, Malathy district. He studied at Guruvayoor and B.E.M. High School in Palakkad. Later, he attended a government school of “Victoria College”, also in Palakkad, where he graduated with a degree in Physics. Unni Menon exhibited his great talent and enthusiasm for music since childhood, winning numerous awards in competitions throughout his studies and university life.
