Tom_Danielson’s Biography

He started running in 2002 with the team of his country, Mercury Cycling Team, where he won the victory, both in general and in two stages, of the Tour of Qinghai Lake. He also harvested the victory of Mount Washington Hillclimb, a result he would repeat the following year.

In 2003 he achieved good results: he won the Tour de Langkawi general, he won a stage and general victory of the Pomona Valley Stage Race and a stage of the Nature Valley Grand Prix. In that same year, he left his team and signed for an important team, the Fassa Bortolo.

After signing for the Fassa Bortolo, he achieved only the victory of Mount Evans Hill Climb, establishing the record of that test. Finally he left the Fassa to go to the Discovery Channel, a team from his native country.

In 2005 he achieved his most important victory up to that point: the fifth stage of the Tour de Georgia, which also helped him achieve the final victory, and he played a good role in the Vuelta a España where he finished eighth in the general classification. < / p>

In 2006 he got the victory in the general of the Tour of Austria and the last stage of the Tour of Georgia, like the previous year, but this time only earned him to be second overall. In that same year he achieved his most important triumph with the victory in the seventeenth stage of the Tour of Spain, surpassing the record of the previous year with sixth place in the final overall.

The following years reaped triumphs, but of less importance as the Mount Evans Hill Climb in 2007.

In 2009 he won the stage victory of the Vuelta a Burgos putting on the leader’s jersey in the absence of a stage but did not achieve the final triumph, remaining in third place.,

He was one of 11 former colleagues of Lance Armstrong in the US Postal who testified before the USADA (Anti-Doping Agency) in the case against the Texan. Danielson admitted to having been doped to improve performance, for which he was suspended for 6 months as of September 1, 2012 and was disqualified from all results obtained from March 1, 2005 to September 23, 2006, including a stage of the Tour of Spain (in which he finished sixth) and a general victory of the Tour of Georgia and the Tour of Austria.

On July 9, 2015, he tested positive for synthetic testosterone in an out-of-competition control. Tom denied that he had taken any substance while waiting for sample B. Finally the USADA suspended him for four years although he could have been suspended for eight years and even in perpetuity for having been a recidivist.
