María Teresa Rodríguez-Rubio Vázquez (Rota, September 18, 1981), better known as Teresa Rodríguez , is a Spanish activist and politician, deputy for Podemos in the Parliament of Andalusia.

Family origins and adolescence

Teresa Rodríguez’s parents ran a perfume shop in the town of Rota (Cádiz).

As a young woman, Teresa Rodríguez became a soldier in the movement against the Spanish-American aeronautical base in Rota.

University period and militancy in IU (1998-2008)

After finishing the Institute, Teresa Rodríguez moved to Seville to study Arabic Philology.

He was a member of the United Left. With 18 years, his name appeared in the lists of IULV-CA to the elections to the Parliament of Andalusia of 2000. Member of the internal current Alternative Space, got to comprise of the federal presidency of IU.

During those years he promoted student assemblies, mainly against the Organic Law of Universities and the Bologna Plan, and protested against the European Constitution (2005).

She was a fellow at the University of Cádiz.

In October 2008 he left IU, along with the rest of the members of Espacio Alternativo.

Left Anticapitalist and work as a teacher (2008-2013)

In February 2015 she was elected candidate of Podemos to the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, with 80.86% of the votes, renouncing her seat in the European Parliament.

In the March elections her party won fifteen seats in the Andalusian Parliament, and in April Teresa Rodríguez was elected secretary general of Podemos in Andalusia through an open primary process, with about 85% of the votes. [ 12]
