Stellan John Skarsgård (pronunciation in Swedish: [stɛlːan skɑːʂɡoːɖ]; Gothenburg, Sweden, June 13, 1951) is a Swedish film, television and theater actor.
He won the Silver Bear of the 1982 Berlin Film Festival, and other prizes later, including the best actor award at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
He has made an international career, being some of his most popular roles that of Prof. Lambeau in The Indomitable Will Hunting, Bill Anderson in the movie Mamma Mia !, Bill “the boots”, in the saga « Pirates of the Caribbean », and that of Dr. Selvig in the films Thor and The Avengers.
Stellan Skarsgard’s Biography
Born in Gothenburg, he is the son of Gudrun and Jan Skarsgård, and he lived his first age in the city of Malmö, often moving in his childhood to other cities such as Totebo, Kalmar, Marielund and Upsala. city of Helsingborg, where he graduated.

He joined professionally in 1994 the Danish director Lars von Trier, with whom he worked in the miniseries The Kingdom and in the films Breaking the Waves (1996), Dogville (2003), Melancholia (2011), with his son Alexander Skarsgård and Nymphomaniac (2013).
His main roles have been those of Father Merrin in the films Exorcist: The Beginning and Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, William «Bootstrap Bill» Turner in the second and third films of Pirates of the Caribbean, and Bill Anderson in Mamma Mia !. He also worked in films such as Ronin, The Crystal House, Deep Blue Sea, Helen of Troy, King Arthur and Angels and Demons.
More recently we have seen him playing Dr. Selvig in the film adaptations of Marvel Thor and The Avengers comics.
He was married to My Skarsgård, with whom he has six children, three of whom are well-known actors: Alexander Skarsgård (1976), Gustaf Skarsgård (1980) and Bill Skarsgård (1990), as well as Sam, Eija and Valter. In 2009 he married Megan Everett, with whom he has two other children: Ossian and Kolbjorn.
