Stanislas “Stan” Wawrinka (Saint-Barthélemy, Switzerland, March 28, 1985) is a Swiss professional tennis player, currently ranked seventh in the ATP ranking.

In January 2014, he won his first Grand Slam (tennis) title when he was crowned champion of the Australian Open, defeating the defending champion, Novak Djokovic, in the quarterfinals and defeating the # 1 Rafael Nadal for three sets. to one in the final, with that victory he accessed the number & nbsp; 3 in the ATP ranking, being his best position as a professional. On June 7, 2015 he won the Roland Garros Tournament, his second Grand Slam title, after defeating Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final in four sets by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4. In 2016 he was champion in the United States Open, winning in 4 sets the Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final.

In ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, he won the Monte Carlo Masters in 2014 and was a finalist of the 2008 Rome Masters, the 2013 Madrid Masters and the 2017 Indian Wells Masters.

During his professional career he has achieved seven other ATP titles: the Umag Tournament of 2006, the Casablanca Tournament of 2010, the Chennai Tournament of 2011, 2014 and 2015, the Oeiras Tournament of 2013 and the Tournament of Rotterdam 2015. In 2016 he got his third Grand Slam by winning the US Open final to Djockovic. He is one of the most complete tennis players on the circuit, and he defends himself well on all surfaces.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, he competed with his compatriot Roger Federer, surprisingly reaching the final, and leaving the number one ranked player Bob Bryan / Mike Bryan on the way, to get the gold medal, after prevailed in the final to the Swedish pair integrated by Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson by 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3. That is why the “FedRinka gold team” was awarded the 2008 Swiss Team of the Year award. In turn, he has played for the Davis Cup team in Switzerland since 2004, where he has won 22 victories in 46 matches.

Wawrinka considers that clay is his favorite surface and his best blow is the reverse.
