Sakyong Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, Jampal Trinley Dradul (born Osel Rangdrol Mukpo in 1962) is the head of the Shambhala Buddhist Lineage and the Shambhala International organization, a global network of urban meditation centers , retirement centers, monasteries, a university, and other organizations, founded by his father, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche He is considered a high lama in the Nyingma and Kagyu lineages of Tibetan Buddhism as well as head of the Shambhala Buddhist lineage initiated by his father.
Known as Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, he was born as Ösel Rangdröl Mukpo in Bodhgaya, India in December 1962.: 157 Firstborn son of the important master of Tibetan Buddhism, Chögyam Trungpa, who had escaped from Tibet to India in 1959 by fleeing the Chinese repression. In 1979, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche invested his son Ösel Rangdröl with the title of Sawang (“land lord”) in an official ceremony. Shortly before the enthronement, Penor Rinpoche recognized the Sawang as tulip of Mipham the Great.: 413
