In April 2008, Rufus announced that he would start a new tour “for money”, in order to later tackle his next project: an opera. Its pretension is to retire of the pop music to dump in that musical sort.

On July 9, 2009, he premiered his first opera, Prima Donna, in Manchester, which was not well accepted by the critics. [quote & nbsp; required]

In this way, Rufus wanted to pay homage to his mother, Kate McGarrigle, recently deceased.

On April 24, 2012 he released his seventh album, entitled Out of the Game. According to the singer, his most danceable and masculine album.
