Ron Ely’s Biography
His real name is Ronald Pierce. In the mid-1950s, he enrolled at the University of Texas, but soon went to California.
After filming with 20th Century Fox in the late 1950s, Ely appeared in small roles in several films and television shows, including films from the South Pacific and the notable Mr. Pennypacker and the television series, How to Marry with a millionaire (1957-1959).
In 1960 he was released on the CBS series The Aquanauts, but the show was canceled after only one season and 32 episodes. He then continued with several other films, but his big break came in 1966, when he was cast in the role of Tarzan for the television series of the same name.
Some films in which he played Tarzan are: Tarzan, Rebellion in the Jungle. Tarzan and the Mountains of the Moon Tarzan and the Perils of Charity Jones.
In 1968 he made Tarzan’s and the Four O’Clock Army and the last in 1970 Tarzan’s Deadly Silence.
Ron Ely is currently away from the cinema, and lives with his second wife, whom he married in 1983. In recent years he has dedicated himself to writing mystery novels focused on the character Jake Sands.
His novels are entitled Sombras, Noche Playa and Oriental, both published in the mid-1990s.
However, on occasion, Ely makes appearances on popular television shows, the most recent being Sheena and Renegade.
