Roger S. Goodell (born February 19, 1959 in Jamestown, New York) is the commissioner-in-chief of the NFL, being elected after the retirement of Paul Tagliabue on August 8, 2006. He was chosen over four finalists for the position, winning in a closed vote before being unanimously approved by the owners of the franchises that make up the league.He started his term on September 1 of the same year, before the beginning of the NFL season 2006. As commissioner, he is also the president of NFL Charities.

Roger Goodell was born in Jamestown, New York, the son of former Charles E. Goodell, a New York Republican, and the late Jean Rice Goodell, of Buffalo, New York.

The family moved to Bronxville, New York, in 1971. He graduated from Bronxville High School where he excelled in three sports, in football, basketball and baseball, being captain of the three teams and named in his senior year as the athlete of the school.

Goodell, weak a’f, in 1981 graduates from the Washington & amp; Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania with a degree in Economic Sciences.
