Robert Picardo (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 27, 1953) is an American actor nominated for an Emmy Award. He is best known for his performances of Dr. Dick Richards on ABC’s China Beach, Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH), also called The Doctor, on UPN’s Star Trek: Voyager, Cowboy on Innerspace, Joe “The Meat Man” Morton on Home Improvement, the trainer Cutlip in The Wonder Years and Richard Woolsey in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.

Robert Picardo’s Biography

First years

Picardo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Joe Picardo. He has Italian ancestry, his paternal family is originally from Naples and his mother’s from Bomba in Abruzzo, he graduated from the William Penn Charter School in 1971 and originally entered Yale University as a premedical student, but opted instead for Act. While at Yale, he was a member of the Orpheus & amp; Bacchus, a group of pre-graduated a cappella singers. On Broadway, he appeared in the works Gemini (1977) and Tribute (1978).

Race

Picardo made his feature film debut as Eddie Quist, the serial killer-werewolf in Joe Dante’s film The Howling (1981). He also had a recurring role in the sitcom Alice (television series). In 1985 he appeared in the science fiction film Explorers, and subsequently appeared in other Dante films such as The ‘Burbs, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Small Soldiers (where he played a minor role as Ralph, the scientist responsible for the creation of the X-1000 series of ammunition microprocessors that were a central part of the plot), and Innerspace, as the “Vaquero”. He also had a small role as the director of a funeral home in Amazon Women on the Moon by John Landis. It was the voice of Pfish in the two short films of Pfish & amp; Chip they saw during the What-A-Cartoon show! broadcast by Cartoon Network. Picardo also gave his voice to the robotic Johnny Cab of Total Recall.

From 1995 to 2001, he played the role of “Emergency Medical Hologram” (EMH) and “Emergency Command Hologram” (ECH) on the TV series Star Trek: Voyager. In 2001, he made a special performance in the episode of the series 7 Days called “Revelation”, playing the role of a traveler in time come from 7 years in the future. In 2004, he begins to play the recurring role of IOA member Richard Woolsey in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. His first appearance was in the episode “Heroes II”.

In 2007, he plays a teacher in Ben 10: Race against time. That same year, he starred in the independent film of Russ Emanuel P.J., along with John Heard and Vincent Pastore, Picardo recently participated in Chasing the Green by Russ Emanuel, along with William Devane, Jeremy London and Ryan Hurst. In 2007 and 2008, he participated in Star Trek: The Music, a multi-city tour with John de Lancie. Picardo and de Lancie narrated around the orchestral performance, explaining the history of music in Star Trek.

Picardo also had appearances on E-Ring as a reporter in the Pentagon, in Cold Case as an enraged father, and as a police officer in CSI: NY. Apart from acting, Picardo is a member of the board of directors of the Planetary Society Advisory Council, where he has served since the late 1990s. In 2002, he wrote the book The Hologram’s Handbook, published by Pocket Books. Others include participation in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass in D, during his European premiere trip, along with the Orpheus Society & amp; Bacchus from Yale University, an a cappella singing group as a graduate student, in addition to which he has appeared in dozens of television series and films such as Our Last Days As Children.

On February 5, 2008, it was announced that Picardo would join the regular full-time cast of Stargate Atlantis for the fifth and final season of the series, assuming the role of mission commander of the Atlantis Expedition. Picardo voiced Loki in the Xbox 360 video game Too Human. In 2009, he also appeared in Pushing Daisies, Chuck and Castle. He also acted in episodes of Home Improvement as the new friend who tries to be Tim Taylor’s best friend, but who often breaks things, annoys Tim or causes him problems.

Private life

Picardo was married to Linda Pawlik from 1984 to 2012 and has two daughters from that marriage, Gina and Nikky.

Picardo is a member of the Planetary Society, with his constant pre-recorded voice appearing on the “Planetary Radio”.

It has been rumored that Picardo is fond of sweets, although he recently denied any desire to open a candy store during an interview with Gateworld.
