Rasheed Wallace Short Bio

Rasheed Abdul Wallace (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, September 17, 1974) is a former American basketball player who played 16 seasons in the NBA. With 2.11 meters of height, he played in the position of power forward. After retiring, he became assistant coach at the Detroit Pistons.

Wallace began his career in the NBA in 1995 when he was drafted in the NBA Draft by Washington Bullets, from the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his first season in the league he was included in the second best rookie team and at the end of the season he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Rod Strickland and Harvey Grant, and his best individual performance was 42 points against Denver Nuggets. 2001 and was the key piece of the Blazers that reached the 2000 Conference Finals and were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.

He helped the Detroit Pistons win the championship in 2004 and won his first and only championship ring.

On October 27, 2007, Wallace said that “the NBA is no longer like a sport but rather like the World Wrestling Federation: false and only for money and entertainment.” Former NBA Commissioner David Stern chided him for his statement calling him “disrespectful”.
