Ramin Karimloo’s Biography

Ramin was born on September 19, 1978 in Tehran (Iran). A few months later his family emigrated to Italy, to escape the violence of the Islamic Revolution of Khomeini. Three years later they emigrated again, to Ontario, later to Peterborough (which he remembers with special affection) and finally to Richmond Hill, a much larger city, when Ramin started high school it took him a bit to adapt. There he graduated from the Alexander Mackenzie School. Even though his family wanted him to be a lawyer or doctor, he was clear that he wanted to be a hockey player. He even left Unionville High School, where he could study acting (he says he looked too much like Fama: he ran away by asking permission to go to the bathroom).
