Ralph Lee Sampson (born July 7, 1960 in Harrisonburg, Virginia) is a former professional basketball player in the NBA. It measures 2.24 m (7 ft 4 in) and weighs 103 & nbsp; kg (227 & nbsp; lb). He played at the University of Virginia and was one of the only players in history to have received the Naismith College Player of the Year and ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year awards three times (along with Bill Walton of UCLA and Cheryl Miller of USC ). He is the only player who has twice won the John R. Wooden Award. Professionally, Sampson was chosen in the first position of the 1983 Draft by Houston Rockets, a team that would be Rookie of the Year and three times All-Star. Sampson and his partner Hakeem Olajuwon were known as “The Twin Towers.”
