Raekwon (born Corey Woods on January 12, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American rapper and member of the hip hop group Wu-Tang. Clan.

Raekwon’s Biography

Raekwon joined Wu-Tang Clan in time to participate in Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, the group’s hit debut album. Later, he signed solo with Loud Records, and working with Ghostface Killah recorded his solo debut Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (which was originally going to be called Only Built 4 Cuban Linx … Niggaz). The album had good reviews, despite having somewhat weak sales. It is possibly the best solo work done by a member of Wu-Tang (rivaling the GZA Liquid Swords), in part thanks to Raekwon’s cinematic imagination. If maybe GZA is the best lyricist of the group, Raekwon is the best writer, since in this album he translates the epic and narrative themes of a Mafia movie. Although Raekwon was not the first to make a connection between gangsta rap and Cosa Nostra (Mafia), his narrative ability in songs like “Spot Rusherz” leads to many comparisons with Kool G Rap (pioneer of that idea), and this album In general, he is often credited with popularizing the tendency to use the Mafia and themes from a gangsta rap movie for hip hop.

Raekwon participated in 1997 with the rest of the group in Wu-Tang Forever, and two years later recorded Immobilarity. Many fans showed their antipathy to the rapper’s decision to use inexperienced but promising producers instead of the internal producers of Wu-Tang, although despite this the album was ‘gold’ (more than 500,000 copies sold). Raekwon also collaborated extensively on the albums Ironman, Supreme Clientele and Bulletproof Wallets, all of them by Ghostface Killah, as well as the singles “John Blaze” and “Skew It On The Bar-B”, by Fat Joe and Outkast respectively. /p>

On December 13, 2003 he released his third album, The Lex Diamond Story, under Universal Records. The album was not quite successful. In 2006, he plans to record a new album titled Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, with Busta Rhymes and GZA of producers, with the latter producing the first single, “State of Grace”. Other producers such as Jay Dee, Dr. Dre and Scram Jones also have a gap in the project.

Collaborated with Wyclef Jean, Akon, Lil Wayne and Niia for the single Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill).

In 2010 he takes Wu-Massacre with Method-Man and Ghostface Killah.
