He is also the founder and only original member left in the group.

Powerman 5000’s Biography

First years and rupture (1991-2002)

In 1991, a young Lord Spider One left the art school where he was studying and, after buying a small 4-track recording equipment and a drum machine, he recorded Much Evil with Lamar Lowder as producer. On the basis of that local success, Powerman 5000 was born. In 1993, the veteran guitarist Adam 12 joined the group. In 1994 and 1995, Powerman 5000 recorded two independent albums, True Force and The Blood Splat Rating System. Both were a success locally, and a year later, in 1996, they performed on the secondary stage of the Ozzfest and appeared in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210, in which David and Donna recorded a video clip for their song “Strike the Match “.

In 1997, the band signed with Dreamworks Records and released a remastered version of The Blood Splat Rating System called Mega !! Kung Fu Radio, starting a tour that took them to play on the main stage of the Ozzfest. From the album singles were extracted as “Organizized” or “Tokyo Vigilante # 1”. In 1999 the guitarist M.33 (Mike Tempesta) joined the group, and that same year saw the birth of what will be his greatest success. With a strange mixture of science fiction (which had always interested Spider) and “Action Rock” (term used by the band to define its powerful and energetic rock) comes to the market Tonight the Stars Revolt !, which contains the singles “When Worlds Collide “,” Nobody’s Real “, and” Supernova Goes Pop “, achieving sales of approximately one million copies.

The next work of Powerman 5000 would be Anyone for Doomsday ?. After recording it, the single “Bombshell” reached all radio stations. However, the album was canceled just before the scheduled date for its release. Anyone for Doomsday? it would later come onto the market through Spider One’s own record label, Megatronic Records. There are several theories about why such a decision, including that the album was canceled in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. However, this explanation is meaningless, since the release of the album was scheduled for August 2001, one month before the attacks. Spider meanwhile has stated in several interviews that the album was discarded because it sounded too similar to his last job and what he wanted was to offer something fresh and different instead of repeating over and over again. Due to this, both Dorian 27 (Dorian Heartsong) and AI3 (Allen Pahanish) left the group, being replaced by Ad7 (Adrian Ost) and Siggy Sjursen.

One of the group’s greatest achievements was the original version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s hit 80’s “Relax.” The song appeared in the credits of the movie Zoolander, which helped spread the fame of the movie. band.

Transform & amp; Destroy What You Enjoy (2003-2007)

In 2003, Transform was released, an album with a more punk sound in which the aesthetics of previous albums were completely discarded, and with less use of industrial effects. From here came the singles “Free” and “Action”. After its release, Dreamworks Records was bought by Interscope Records, and paralyzed the promotion of the band in the middle of the tour, which, without any explanation and without their consent, was moved to the staff of Interscope. Undaunted, Spider continued under his own label, Megatronic Records, and in 2005 saw a compilation of rarities entitled The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Vol.1. In August of that same year they performed at the 6th edition of the Gathering of the Juggalos festival.

Later the group started a new tour, but M.33 was expelled from the group for starting various fights and Adam 12, despite having participated in the recordings of the album, was not present on the tour. The guitarists Terry Corso and Johnny Rock Heatley, ex-members of Alien Ant Farm and Halfcocked respectively, joined to round off the live show. Then the group signed a contract with DRT Entertainment, with whom they released a new album entitled Destroy What You Enjoy on August 1, 2006. The song “Wild World” was the first single of the CD, for which they also shot a video clip.

In 2007 Evan Rodaniche, singer and guitarist of the Los Angeles band cage9 joined the group thanks to his relationship with Adrian Ost, and acted as a solo guitarist until later Dave Pino was included in the group. Pino had just moved to Los Angeles and had heard of a vacancy in the band through his friend Piggy(Rob Zombie bassist).
