Phyllis Smith (born July 10, 1951) is an American actress. She is known for her role as Phyllis Lapin in the NBC series, The Office, which aired from 2005 to 2013.
He was born in Lemay (Missouri), just outside of St. Louis. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1972.
In the 1970s and 1980s, she worked as a dancer, cheerleader for the St. Louis Cardinals football team, and as a burlesque artist (“I did not undress, but I wore feathers,” Smith pointed out), being forced to leave the dance after suffering a knee injury.
Smith, later worked in Hollywood as an actress and in casting processes; in this context, she worked as a casting assistant for The Office when she was offered the role of Phyllis Lapin, a character created specifically for her, as a soft-spoken saleswoman who tends to disagree with her boss Michael Scott. He received the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006 and 2007 for that role, in the category Best Performance of a Cast in a series of Comedy, along with the rest of his fellow filmmakers.
On June 24, 2008, Smith was presented with the cast of The Office at Celebrity Family Feud.
In 2011, Smith played an important role in the movie Bad Teacher, with Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel.
