Phife Dawg (born Malik Taylor ; Brooklyn, New York, November 20, 1970-22 March 2016) was an African-American rapper known for having He has been a member of the acclaimed group A Tribe Called Quest with Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and, for one season, Jarobi White. After leaving the group, he began his solo career.
Phife Dawg made numerous appearances on songs by other artists, such as the hit “La Schmoove” by Fu-Schnickens, on “Painz & Strife” by Diamond D with Pete Rock, and on “Let the Horns Blow” of Black Sheep with Al ‘Tariq and Trugoy. In 2000, he released his first solo album, titled Ventilation: Da LP.
After 15 years of his first solo musical performance, he died on March 22, 2016 due to unknown causes, although possibly associated with his diabetes.
