Petra Kvitová (pronounced [pɛtra kvɪtovaː]; Bílovec, Czech Republic, March 8, 1990) is a Czech professional tennis player. He has won 19 WTA tournaments. In 2011, the year of her revelation, she won the Wimbledon Championship after defeating Maria Sharápova in the final by 6-3, 6-4 (becoming the first Grand Slam champion born in the 90s). It was also devoted to the women’s Masters against Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and the Federation Cup with the Czech Republic (the first since the Czechoslovakian division), in addition to being awarded as the player of the year by part of the Women’s Tennis Association. At the beginning of 2012 she and her compatriot Tomas Berdych reached the Hopman Cup for the second time in the Czech Republic, and in 2014 she became champion of her second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, where she faced the young Canadian Eugénie Bouchard. It is currently ranked No. 15 in the WTA ranking.

Petra Kvitová is the daughter of Jiří Kvita and Pavla Kvitová. He was born in Bílovec, Czech Republic (in 1990 it was still Czechoslovakia). Her father Jiří took her to the world of tennis. Since childhood he has idolized his compatriot Martina Navratilova. Kvitová trained in his hometown until he was 16 when he moved to a nearby town to train at an academy where other Czech tennis players, such as Tomas Berdych and Lucie Safarova, trained to start their sporting career.
