Paul Preston (Liverpool, July 21, 1946) is a British historian, author of several works on the contemporary history of Spain. Along with Raymond Carr and Hugh Thomas, he has been one of the leading British hispanists dedicated to the study of recent Spanish history, especially that of the Second Republic and the Civil War.

He was also Professor of History at the Center for Mediterranean Studies at Queen Mary College (University of London).
