Griffin is from Old Town, Maine, United States, near the Penobscot native american reservation. He is a guitarist, pianist and vocalist. She was the youngest daughter in her family, with six older siblings. He bought a guitar for $ 50 at the age of 16. He sang and played, but he had no inclination to become professional music. After a short marriage that ended in 1992, Griffin began acting in cafés in Boston and auditioned for A & M Records, which he signed with Griffin for the strength of his demo tape. When the studio records were delivered to A & M, the company thought of overproducing them by Nile Rodgers and gave rise to the album Living with Ghosts.

The title track, “Flaming Red” is an example of this. “Tony”, from this album, was also featured on the benefit album Live in the X Lounge.

His third record, Silver Bell, had a sound similar to its predecessor. It was published by A & M 13 years after being recorded (after it was leaked to public knowledge). The contract with A & M ended after Silver Bell was recorded and signed by Dave Matthews ATO Records. Griffin re-recorded songs from that album for later publications such as “Make Pastels,” “Mother of God,” and others have been covered by The Dixie Chicks. Copies of the unpublished Silver Bell were leaked and can be accessed In August 2013 it was announced that UM planned to publish Silver Bell in October 2013 and producer Glyn Johns had mixed the album for the new publication.
