Patrick James Rothfuss (born June 6, 1973) is an American fantasy writer and adjunct professor of English literature and philology at the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of the series Crónica del asesino de reyes, which was rejected by several publishers before the first book in the series El nombre del viento was published in 2007. He received very good reviews and became a best seller. .
Patrick Rothfuss was born in Madison, Wisconsin and became a regular reader in part due to bad weather and lack of cable television.He enrolled at the University of Wisconsi-Stevens Point in 1991. At the university he originally planned to study chemical engineering, but changed his mind when he found it not related to himself, and spent the following semesters studying any subject that would interest him. After nine years in the university, he was asked to invest his efforts in graduating, and Rothfuss ended up leaving with an English philology degree.During this time he dedicated himself to work in various and strange works, and at the same time he dedicated himself To work on an extremely long fantasy novel called The Song of Flame and Thunder, he also began writing the “Survival Guide at the University” in a column of The Pointer, the campus newspaper. Professor at Washington State University returned two years later to teach at Stevens Point, after completing The Song of Flame and Thunder Rothfuss sent it to several publishers, but was rejected. In 2002 he won the Writers of the Future competition with The Road to Levinshir, an excerpt from his novel, and then Rothfuss sold the novel to DAW Books. The Song of Flame and Thunder was divided into a series of three volumes entitled Crónica del asesino de reyes, with the first volume, El nombre del viento, published in April 2007. The novel won that year the Quill Prize for the best novel of fantasy / science fiction, it appeared on the New York Times bestseller list and Amazon selected it among its ten “hidden gems” of 2007.
