Patricia Carola Velásquez Semprún (n Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela, January 31, 1971) is an Venezuelan actress and exsupermodelo. He has excelled in the world of entertainment due to its characteristic physical features, a product of the typical Caribbean miscegenation and inherited by her from the indigenous people.
Patricia Velasquez’s Biography
Patricia Velásquez was born in the Venezuelan Guajira and declares herself “marabina de corazón”. His mother, Lidella Semprún, comes from the indigenous Colombo-Venezuelan Wayúu tribe and her father, Aquiles Velásquez, is mestizo. Both were educators, and raised their six children in various places, such as Barquisimeto and Maracaibo, in Venezuela, Patzcuaro in Mexico and Paris, France.
From her adolescence to Velásquez her attention was drawn to the performing arts, and she began to enter the world of entertainment through artistic dance; in 1989 he participated in the famed Miss Venezuela beauty contest where he represented the Guajira Peninsula, and although he did not win the main crown, he was projected to the world from that event.
As a model, she stood out on the catwalks of Milan, Paris and New York, the latter being her home for the longest time of her career as a professional model, which led her to work with the giants of the catwalk, such as Lagerfeld, Chanel and Dior, among other famous fashion houses.
In 2002, he created the non-profit Wayúu Tayá foundation dedicated to the assistance of the Wayúu, a group of Colombian-Venezuelan indigenous people.
On May 20, 2009, he received recognition in New York City from the Women Together Committee and the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN) for his humanitarian work through of its Wayuu Taya Foundation, which benefits Venezuelan indigenous people by respecting their culture and traditions.
She was previously in a relationship with comedian Sandra Bernhard.
