Joseph “Nathan” Lane (born February 3, 1956) is an American actor and comedian born in New Jersey who is known for performing in various comedies, as well as in dubbing being Timon’s voice in the trilogy The Lion King and Snowball in Stuart Little.
He is openly gay and a well-known activist in favor of the rights of homosexuals. Notable is his role as a character in the television series Modern Family, where he plays homosexual wedding organizer Pepper Saltzman.
His real name is Joseph Lane , but he changed it because he had heard that there was an actor called in the same way. He chose Nathan for the protagonist of the play Guys and Dolls. An actor trained in the theater who had a very particular childhood (alcoholic father and manic-depressive mother), which overturned in an exceptional comic.
He made his debut in 1976 in the play Jerz, in New York. In 1980 he moved to Los Angeles, where he formed a comedy duo with Patrick Stack.
