Nathan Fillion (Edmonton, Alberta, March 27, 1971) is a Canadian actor. Among his most famous roles are the writer Richard Castle in the series Castle (already completed after eight seasons) and that of Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the series Firefly and the movie Serenity, but he has also doubled a character in video games Halo 3 : ODST and Halo 5: Guardians and is recognized for his appearances in People and Entertainment Weekly. In addition, Fillion is the co-founder of the Kids Need to Read organization, which is dedicated to getting more books for libraries with insufficient funds.

Son of the English teachers Cookie and Bob Fillion, Nathan has an older brother named Jeff. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic High School, Concordia University College of Alberta and the University of Alberta (where he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Society). As a curiosity, he is a descendant of Confederate Lieutenant General Jubal Anderson Early.
