Takamasa Ishihara (石 原 貴 雅, Takamasa Ishihara ?) (September 14, 1981 in Konohana-ku, Osaka), better known as Miyavi b> (雅 -Miyavi, Miyavi ?), is a Japanese musician, composer, arranger and actor. He is a renowned artist of J-Rock (Japanese rock), being the composer, producer, arranger, singer and guitarist in his works, besides belonging to the Visual Kei theme. He is currently a soloist, major and active.

Initially with the name of Miyabi (雅 ~ み や び ~, Miyabi ?) the musician began as a guitarist for the indie band called Due’le Quartz, in which It stood out not only for being the youngest, but also for being the one who composed most of the songs and lyrics. But, after their separation in 2002, he began his solo career as a singer, changing his name to Miyavi, and releasing his first album Gagaku under a label. Shortly after becoming better known he acquired a contract with an established label, releasing his debut debut Rock no Gyakushu -Superstar no Jouken, with which the artist took as pseudonym MYV, always being he who wrote, composed, and basically was present in each segment of the creation of their own music.

The image of Miyavi can be considered androgynous (something quite common in Japanese musical scenery), but despite this has great popularity among the public, both male and female. In 2003 the singer also debuted as a model, lending his image to several fashion magazines J-Rock, and also made his film debut with the film Oresama. It must be said that before starring in the film, he had already participated with the vocalist of his previous group (Sakito de Due’le Quartz) in another film production.

Miyavi’s Biography

At 18, Miyavi began his music career with the name of Miyabi (in Japanese, elegant) in the group Due’le Quartz. Although he was the youngest of the band, much of the songs and lyrics were composed by himself. Dué le Quartz would come to an end in 2002, when Miyabi changed his name to Miyavi (loyal) and began as a soloist. Miyavi says he is very grateful to Due’le Quartz, which is why he tattooed the name on his wrist, but now that he works alone he is much freer. Not all of his fans in Due’le Quartz followed him as a soloist. Considered an expert guitarist, his solo career diminished this facet.

In November 2002 he released his first album, Gagaku, which they classified as dark and experimental. However in their singles the style varied considerably, for their need to try all of them, no matter how different they were. Miyavi on his discs, in addition to providing the voice, is accustomed to playing all the instruments. He likes to do everything he can for himself. He has decided to be remembered as an artist in general, not just as a good guitarist. With Galyuu, his second album, Miyavi’s fanbase grew considerably. By becoming more popular and leaving visual aesthetics behind, he managed to make some fans feel disappointed.

In 2003 his movie, Oresama (which gives its official website name), went on sale although, previously, he had already had a small role in the film Ryomano Tsumato Sono Ottoto Aijin with Due’le Quartz vocalist Sakito . Being a movie star seems to be the natural continuation of Miyavi’s ego.

His third album Miyavizm appears in the summer of 2005. That’s when he becomes a major and adopts a new pseudonym: MYV. Later, on August 2, 2006, he recorded MYV ☆ POPS, very different from his previous work, since he uses acoustic guitar and quieter melodies in a lot of songs, due to his need to try all styles. < / p>

A month later his style changes again, a little less, as he continues in his line of acoustics, but much harder, tones with a variation of Blues and his own style, in addition to a lot of use of the Gigpig, which he can not depend on the LFX (radio show), and use a tambourine.

In 2007 new members appear with Miyavi, are the Kavki Boiz, 6 men who will give a lot of play to their songs, and a new style called Neo Visualizm. Among them, we can find a DJ, a drummer, a singer, a shoemaker, a painter, etc. With this set, Sakihokoru Hana no You Ni is released, although better known as Neo Visualizm, where Miyavi radically changes aesthetics to a wider one, with paintings on the right jaw and so on. A month later comes 7 Samurai Sessions, which is actually a compilation of old but modified singles. This year he also joined as a guitarist in the special group called S.K.I.N, joining with Gackt, Yoshiki (X Japan) and Sugizo (Luna Sea).

2007 is also the year where Miyavi comes out to present his music outside of his native land for the first time, starting in the United States. In February of this year he held his first concert at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, and later at the J-Rock Revolution festival in Los Angeles.

In addition, he also launched This Iz the Original Samurai Style, a DVD about his world tour with which he practically says goodbye to his stage with the KAVKI BOIZ.
