Minus the Bear is a Seattle band with seven payroll launches. His most recent project, a mini-album titled Acoustics, was published on February 17, 2009, under the Suicide Squeeze label. This album contains a selection of seven acoustic versions of themes included in the previous works of the five from Seattle. The band includes former members of Botch, Killsadie and Sharks Keep Moving. Its sound is a combination of guitar and electronic taps, with sophisticated times similar to those of Don Caballero.
Minus The Bear is famous for the amazing titles of its songs, with examples that include “Hey, Wanna Throw Up?”, “Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo”, “Monkey !!! Knife !!! Fight! !! ” and “Lemurs, Man, Lemurs.” Despite this slight humor, the music of the band is very technical; in the album Less the Bear, the titles of the songs do not have the same humorous load that in their previous discs. The name of Minus The Bear comes from a private joke between the members of the band.
On January 2, 2006 Matt Bayles, keyboardist and producer of Minus The Bear announced his retirement from the band to focus on production work. His last performance with the band was on January 28, 2006. Matt Bayle wrote on his website that he would be replaced by Alex Rose, an engineer from Menos el Oso.
His discography includes a remix of Minus The Bear’s Minus Bear album, which includes remixes of IQU, Weerd Science, Tyondai Braxton and Dälek, just to name a few. The album is called “Interpretations of the Bear” and has been available since February 2007.
