Miklós Fehér , better known as Miki Feher (Tatabánya, Hungary, July 20, 1979-Guimarães, Portugal, January 25, 2004), was a footballer Hungarian.

His sister is the television presenter and model Orsi Feher, who is in a relationship with coach Quique Sánchez Flores.

He died on January 25, 2004 due to a cardiac arrest suffered while playing a game with the S.L. Benfica, playing against the Vitória Sport Clube in Guimarães.

Miklos Feher’s Biography

Miklos Feher was born on July 20 of the year in 1979 in the small Hungarian town of Tatabayna. When he was little, his family moved to the city of Gyori. In the elementary school He started to have talent as a striker who called his attention to his soccer-loving father. He did not take long to send him to the club in the city of gyori where the coaches were surprised making Miki Feher start a promising professional career, debuting with the Győri ETO FC of Hungary, in the 1995-96 season until 1998, when he was transferred to FC Porto of Portugal. That same season was summoned by the selection of Hungary, becoming titular. In the 1999-2000 season he was transferred to SC Salgueiros. Then the Sc Braga did not take long to take him, played in the 2000/2001 season, Miki Feher gave his best year as a footballer in the Sc Braga, played 40 games and scored 14 goals. In the summer of 2002 Benfica signed the Hungarian forward and his friend Ricardo Rocha. Al Benfica in June 2002, after being bought by the team from the city of Lisbon, where he scored 8 goals in 37 games played.

Death

On January 25, 2004, Benfica disputed the Portuguese super league against Vitória de Guimaraes. There were just a few minutes until the end of the game that Benfica won by the minimum difference with goal by player Fernando Aguiar and assisted by Fehér himself.

The referee of that match decreed a side kick in favor of Vitória, a fact that Fehér disliked. The Hungarian player prevented the throw-in and was cautioned with a yellow card. Fehér considered the decision incorrect and walked to his position smiling ironically. He turned around, went slower and lowered his fatigued trunk. After a few seconds, he took his knees, crouched and collapsed spectacularly, and his head hit the grass hard. His companions realized the magnitude of the event and ran desperate to help him, when they saw that he did not move and had his white eyes, feared the worst. His desperate teammates called the medical team. Attending the player: he had a cardiac massage and even thought of using a defibrillator to revive him, but it was impossible because the player was totally wet from the rainy weather that day. The match was suspended. Later, a fire ambulance entered the stadium 15 minutes after the event and took the player quickly to the hospital in Guimaraes, where he entered with few vital signs. A short time later, although they tried to revive him for almost an hour, he died. Then his death was confirmed and the whole world was shocked with the news. The player died as a result of a cardiac arrhythmia caused by a disorder of the heart muscle known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Tribute

Benfica, the last club of the player, decided to withdraw the number 29, which he had been using since 2002, the year of his arrival at the team. They also gave part of the stadium to pay tribute, build a small statue and put in a showcase the clothing of the team that was the day of his death.

In Hungary he was awarded a ceremony with the highest state honors.
