More Yom is a Christian / funk rock band from Newport (Oregon, USA). It consists of Blotus , Spud and Mike G .
More Yom is a trio formed by Blotus as a singer and bassist, Spud as a guitarist and Mike G as a drummer.
Aaron Gibson (Blotus) has been playing and writing songs for years. He has been in several bands, but, as he himself has said, “More Yom has a special spark”. In 2005 he joined Chris (Spud). The former drummer left the band in 2006 for personal reasons and was replaced by Aaron’s older brother, Mike.
On June 11, 2007, Aaron posted on the myspace blog of the band that Spud had graduated from high school on June 9, Mike had a job that was coming to an end and he had sold his house and closed his business to dedicate himself to the band.
They performed at the Cornerstone Festival 2007, where they performed a new song: One Grain. On September 28 they performed in California.
His music is difficult to classify, sounding like a mix of reggae and indie rock with half-singing Blotus, half rapping.
His influences are Rich Mullins, Bootsy Collins, David Bowie, Blindside, Stray Cats, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, P.O.D., Sara Groves, Frank Zappa, Béla Fleck, Bob Dylan, Buckshot Lefonque, C.S. Lewis and Stavesacre.
Initially the band was called Ripe. Under this name they released their album More Yom. But that there were other bands that were also called Ripe created some confusion in the downloads of their songs on the Internet. Then they decided to change the name of the band for the title of the album and to rename it with its previous name.
