Mike Deodato (May 23, 1963 in Campina Grande, Paraíba), also known as Mike Deodato Jr. , is the professional pseudonym of the Brazilian cartoonist < b> Deodato Thaumaturgo Borges Filho .
One of the first works of Deodato was an adaptation in photographic comic book format of the television series Beauty and the Beast, published by Innovation Publishing. Deodato rose to fame in the American comic industry for his work with screenwriter William Messner-Loebs in Wonder Woman. After this project, he worked for a short period of time as an artist at The Mighty Thor, where he worked with screenwriter Warren Ellis, and later illustrated Glory for Extreme Studios, by Rob Liefeld, in Image Comics and Maximum Press.
In the mid-1990s, his style was very similar to that of Jim Lee, but in recent years he has changed to a more simple, realistic and sometimes taciturn style. His first work under his new artistic identity was The Incredible Hulk, written by Bruce Jones. From that moment, he has worked on Doctor Strange’s spin-off entitled Witches and became the regular artist of The Amazing Spider-Man and The New Avengers. Later, Deodato illustrated the Marvel Thunderbolts comic, again in collaboration with Warren Ellis, and in the following years, he was selected as a regular artist in the series The Dark Avengers, successor to Secret Invasion. Along with screenwriter Ed Brubaker, he launched the series The Secret Avengers in May 2010, before returning to New Avengers. In 2014 he draws on the Marvel crossover: “Original Sin”
