Mickey Curry’s Biography

Professional drummer, member of the Canadian rock band Bryan Adams.

A talented musician, he began his career as a drummer from the age of 11, playing in local bands, and was inspired above all by his favorite drummers, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd and Jim Gordon. He started studying drumming at school, there, he learned from the hand of a drummer named Nick Forte, who, apart from teaching him to play and to teach several students, also taught Mickey how he should choose his team. At that time began to reflect its main influences: the drummers Ringo Starr and John Bonham to Chicago’s Danny Seraphine, and, under the influence of his older brothers, R’n’B Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and James Brown. At 13 years old, when he finally managed to consolidate a band with two of his brothers (called “The Rack”), he began to take more seriously that what he really wanted for his life was to train as a professional musician. Then, Mickey joined a musical academy, which would not be for a long time, due to the fact that he was not very patient for the academic routine. His first studio recording was made at the age of 17, when he joined a band known as the Scratch Band.work, around 1980, with several local bands, and their first experiences and recording work continued in New York. By chance of life, in those days Mickey found himself on a train route to music mogul Tony Mottola, who introduced him to the great producer Bob Clearmountain. Amazed by the talent that Mickey expressed when playing, Clearmountain asked him to participate in the recording of a new album that a young Canadian rock singer was about to record. That’s how Mickey met Bryan Adams, and recorded along with “You want It, You Got It.” Currently, muckey is an official drummer in Bryan Adams’ band and, along with guitarist Keith Scott, they are the right-hand man of the Canadian rocker.

Great bands with which Mickey worked were with Hall & amp; Oates (with whom he toured in a period from 1980 to 1986) and The Cult (participated in the recording of a new album that the band planned in 1989, called “Sonic Temple”, which sold more than three million copies only in the United States). Finally Micey decided at that time to stay definitively in the band of Bryan Adams, since, as the same comments, it is there where he gets the sound he likes most, both in studio and live.
