Michael Palin Short Bio

Michael Palin , CBE (Sheffield, Yorkshire, May 5, 1943) is an actor, screenwriter, comedian and British television presenter.

At the Shrewsbury School where he studied, he coincided with the future DJ of Radio London and the BBC, John Peel. He studied History at the University of Oxford. He married Helen Gibbins with whom he had three children. One of them, Thomas, played the role of Sir No-Appears-In-This-Movie in the movie The Knights of the Square Table. He was a member of the Monty Python humor group.

The “nice Python” is, following John Cleese and Eric Idle, the Python best known for his work as an actor. He took part in A Fish named Wanda and his “sequel” Ferocious creatures next to Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis and John Cleese. He acted as a secondary in the cult film Brazil directed by his former companion in the Monty Python Terry Gilliam in 1985. He also presented several series about travel for the BBC. He participated with John Cleese in some of the best sketches of Monty Python’s Flying Circus: “The French of the flying sheep”, the “Dead Parrot” or the “Discussion Discussion”. He performed the roles of Bevis, the transvestite half-psychopathic barber who wanted to be a lumberjack in the sketch “The Song of the Woodcutter” and Sir Galahad in The Knights of the Square Table. It appeared at the beginning of each episode of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” as the castaway saying “It’s …”.
