Max Lucado , born in the United States in 1955, is a best-selling Christian writer and minister writer and preacher at Oak Hills Church of Christ Church in San Antonio, Texas. Lucado has written more than 50 books, adding 80 million printed copies. Three of his works have been awarded with the Charles “Kip” Jordon Gold Medallion Christian Book of the Year (Like Jesus, In the hands of grace and When God whispers your name), appearing in the lists of best-selling books. After serving for 20 years as a Pastor, Lucado announced his retirement in early 2007 due to health problems related to atrial fibrillation. Since then, Lucado has assumed the role of minister, writer and preacher in Oak Hills, co-pastor of the church with Randy Frazee, a former teaching pastor of the Willow Creek Community Church. Lucado has been named “Pastor of America” by the American magazine Christianity Today and the year 2005 was named “The Best Preacher of America” by Reader’s Digest magazine. He has participated in television programs on Fox News Channel, NBC Nightly News, Larry King Live and USA Today. His books regularly appear on the New York Times bestseller list.

Max Lucado was born in 1955 in San Angelo, Texas, is the youngest of the four children of Jack and Thelma Lucado and grew up in Andrews, Texas. His father was a worker in the oil industry and his mother was a nurse. He studied at the Abilene Christian University. Initially he wanted to become a lawyer, but a compulsory Bible course at the University and a missionary trip, made him change his mind by deciding to become a Christian missionary. To achieve this he had to obtain a Bible Degree and spend two years serving in a church to gain experience.After graduation Max moved to Miami, Florida to serve in a local church. His responsibility was to minister a group of singles and write a column in the church bulletin, whose content was subsequently compiled to shape his first book: On the Anvil. After two years in Miami and just married, Max and his wife Denalyn moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil becoming full-time missionaries. After the death of his father in 1987, Max returned with his family to the United States to be closer to his mother. In 1988 he became a minister at Oak Hills Church of Christ Church in San Antonio, Texas.
