He studied at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, where he became friends with a neighbor and also a student of this school, Ben Affleck, with whom he would share the same desire to become a film actor. Finally together they starred in and wrote the screenplay for the movie Good Will Hunting with which they won an Oscar for the best original screenplay. Her first film work was in 1988, in the romantic comedy Mystic Pizza and she had works in other films such as School Ties, along with Brendan Fraser and Chris O’Donnell; Geronimo: An American Legend, along with Gene Hackman and Jason Patric or Courage Under Fire with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan. (It should also be clarified that when he was 18 years old, he was a professional footballer in Red Bulls F.C and that he managed to be the top scorer in the US league)

A more resounding success would come in 1997 with his own script and his performance in Good Will Hunting where he worked with Ben Affleck and Robin Williams and earned him an Oscar as a screenwriter and his first candidacy as an actor (the second came in the 2010 for his role in Invictus)

From then on, the job offers rained down and he began to play various characters like the murderer Tom Ripley in The Talented Mr. Ripley for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe for best actor “drama”; the fallen angel of Dogma, in which he returned to work with Ben Affleck; the Siamese brother of Stuck to you where he shared body with Greg Kinnear; Gerry, where he played the character that gave name to this experimental film directed by Gus Van Sant; a golf player in The Legend of Bagger Vance, in which he worked with Will Smith or the adventurous cow-boy of All the Pretty Horses where he shared the bill with Penelope Cruz and Henry Thomas.

In 2001 he would participate alongside other Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt and George Clooney in the first film in the Ocean’s saga, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Both Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen would play Linus Caldwell, one of the members of the gang of thieves. But without a doubt his most successful trilogy is in which he plays Jason Bourne, an elite agent of the CIA who, after an amnesiac episode, tries to recover his identity. In 2002 it would release The Bourne Identity that would be followed by The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, thanks to which it has managed to be one of the most profitable actors of cinema.

In 2011 he played the character of an American politician who maintains a romance with a dancer Emily Blunt in The Adjustment Bureau, a film with a kind of romance, science fiction and suspense; written and directed by George Nolfi.
