Mark Haddon (Northampton, October 28, 1962) is an English writer, illustrator, painter and teacher.

He has written numerous books for children and a collection of poems. He worked for a time with people with physical and mental deficiencies, which helped him to create his first novel The Curious Incident of the Dog at Midnight (2004), winner of the Whitbread and Commonwealth Prize. Before writing this book, I had already written stories for children and had also illustrated them. He also participated in the creation of screenplays for TV series and films.

Currently teaches creative literature at the University of Oxford and the Arvon Foundation, and is dedicated to abstract painting. He is married to Sos Eltis.
