Lynn Anderson (Grand Forks, North Dakota, September 26, 1947 – Nashville, Tennessee, July 31, 2015) was a country singer, country music award winner from the United States and known for its string of hits in the late 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, most notable being its iconic 1970 hit, a world megahit “(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden”, which won the Grammy Award in 1971 Best Female Vocal Performance This hit made Anderson cross from a regular exposure artist to a national star aided by television, being one of the most popular country singers of the 1970s. She was the daughter of singer Liz Anderson.

Anderson had 12 issues 1, 18 Top 10 and more than 50 hits in Top 40. She was named “Top Female Vocalist” (the best female vocalist) by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) twice and “Female Vocalist of the Year “by the Country Music Association (CMA), Anderson won a Grammy Award (she was nominated seven times), People’s Choice Award and American Music Award (AMA). He was ranked number 13 according to [[Joel Whitburn’s] “Billboard Hot Country Singles” book and having the highest position in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Anderson was the first female country singer artist to win the American Music Award (in 1974) being the first to fill Madison Square Garden that same year.

He debuted in 1966 at the age of 19, and had his first hit Ride, Ride, Ride. After a series of 10 Top singles on the country charts during the late 1960s, Anderson signed for the Columbia Records label (now Sony), in 1970. Under Columbia, he had his biggest string of hits. When she signed the song (“(I Never Promised You to) Rose Garden”), she remained as one of the greatest sellers in country music of all time. It reached number one on the US country music list and number three on the Bilboard Pop Chart. It also reached the top of the lists in several countries of the world, something unprecedented at that time. CMT placed “Rose Garden” at number 83 on its list of “100 Greatest Songs in Country Music History” (The 100 Greatest Songs in the History of Country Music). Anderson continued recording and being a popular attraction in his concerts until his death, having regular presentations in halls of centers and theaters.
