Lev Ivanovich Yashin (Russian: Лев Иванович Яшин, Moscow, October 22, 1929-ibid, March 20, 1990) was a Soviet footballer. Considered the “best goalkeeper in the history of football”, it was popularly known as the Black Spider (Чёрный паук) in reference to the dark colors he always wore and the impression of having eight arms to catch the ball. Yashin is the only goalkeeper who has achieved the Golden Ball (1963).

Yashin was a complete goalkeeper, of a large size, was very agile and safe under the sticks. He won five Soviet First Division titles and three Soviet Union Cups with Dinamo Moscow, the club he spent his entire career with, winning the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and the European Championship in 1960.

He was the winner of many awards and recognitions, among the most recognized is having been awarded the Olympic Order by the IOC, elected the best goalkeeper of the XX Century by the IFFHS, goalkeeper of the XX Century by FIFA, awarded the FIFA Order of Merit, included in the Dream Team of FIFA (dream team) of the history of the FIFA World Cups, awarded the Order of Lenin and winner of the Golden Ball by France Football, being the only goalkeeper to win it so far, which credits him as the best in the world in 1963 and until today, in history, among many other distinctions, you could say that his bow was “impenetrable”. < / p>
