Marion Hall (born July 12, 1972 in Saint Mary, Jamaica), better known as Lady Saw or “The first Lady of Dancehall”, is a Reggae singer and Jamaican dancehall. She is the first deejay to win a Grammy.
Lady Saw’s Biography
Marion Hall was born in the summer of 1972 in Galina, parish of Saint Mary. At the age of 15, she took the name Lady Saw for the Jamaican deejay Tenor Saw, whom she wanted to emulate. In 1994 he debuted with the album Lover Girl and collaborated with Jermaine Fagan. Throughout his career he has collaborated with Sean Paul, Ce’Cile, Beenie Man, Missy Elliott, Eve, Lil ‘Kim or Foxy Brown among others. In 1999, he collaborated in the single “Smile” of the American singer Vitamin C who managed to obtain the gold record in the United States.
In 2003, she won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a duo or group with vocalist in the song “Underneath It All” by No Doubt, in which she participated. This simple one managed to position itself in the third location of the Billboard Hot 100.
He has acted in the films Dancehall Queen and Made in Jamaica.
