Konstantinos Katsouranis (Patras, Greece, June 21, 1979), is a Greek ex-football player. He played in the midfielder’s demarcation and his last team was Heidelberg United of Australia.
Kostas Katsouranis’s Biography
Katsouranis began his football career in the lower categories of the Panachaiki. In the 1996-97 season, he became part of the club’s first team. In this stage he disputes 45 parties and scores 11 goals.
In 2002, when he finished his contract with Panachaiki, he left to play AEK Athens. In season 2004-05 it realizes a very good season with its club being in third position of the league championship. That year Katsouranis, who scored 12 goals, was named Footballer of the Year in Greece. In the following season he obtained a subchampionship. With AEK Athens played a total of 112 games scoring 49 goals.
On June 23, 2006, it was signed by SL Benfica, a club that made an economic outlay of approximately 3.8 million euros to be able to obtain its services. Katsouranis soon won the starting job in this team.
In a game against Vitória Futebol Clube Katsouranis had a fight with his partner Luisão following a foul. Although the two players apologized for what happened, they were sanctioned by the club.
