Ryan Raddon (born February 25, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois) artistically known as Kaskade , is an American DJ and record producer nominated for the Grammy Awards. He is also a member of the electronic music band Late Night Alumni. Currently, it occupies the position # 84 in the survey conducted by the magazine DJmag in 2015. In 2011 and 2012 it ranked at number 30 being its best location on the list.
Kaskade was born in Chicago in 1971. In his youth he moved to Salt Lake City in 1992 to study at the University of Utah, where he owned and operated a record store. In May of 2000, Kaskade moved to San Francisco and began working as an assistant to A & R for Om Records. Kaskade released her first single, called “What I Say” under this record label in 2001.
On her album In the Moment, Kaskade had her first single in the top 10 with “Steppin ‘Out” reaching 5th place in the Hot Dance Club Play of the Billboard magazine and 6th place in the Dance Radio Airplay. The fourth single released from his album, “Everything,” reached first place on the same Billboard list.
Kaskade’s fourth studio album “Love Mysterious” is released in September 2006. Her first single, “Be Still”, reached fourth place in the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. In this recording it counts on the participation of the vocalist Sunsun, and includes remixes of Jay-J and Robbie Rivera. The following single “Stars Align” reaches the eighth position in the “Hot Dance Airplay chart”, although it only managed to position itself in the 11th place of the “Hot Dance Club Play chart”. The third single “Sorry” was the third consecutive single to reach the “top ten” of the “Hot Dance Airplay Chart” by Billboard, reaching ninth place. The Australian DJ and producer Dirty South made his remix version of “Sorry”, being nominated for the 2008 Grammys for the best remixed recording. His fifth work Strobelite Seduction was released in 2008 by Ultra Records in which he included the single “Angel On My Shoulder” in addition to his co-productions with Deadmau5, “Move for Me” and “I Remember”. This last one obtained the first position in the Dance / Mix Show Airplay of the Billboard, in 2010 it sends its sixth album Dynasty that included the homonymous single that again achieved the number one in the Hot Dance Airplay of the Billboard. “Only You” a co-production with Tiësto and “Fire in Your New Shoes” in which the singer of the Canadian band Dragonette, Martina Sorbara, participated. In 2011 he released his seventh studio album Fire & amp; Ice is placed in the number 17 of the Billboard 200 and receives a Grammy nomination.It contains singles like “Eyes”, “Turn It Down” with the voices of the Swedish duo Rebecca & amp; Fiona, “Lick It” co-produced with Skrillex and “Lessons in Love” which had the collaboration of the alternative rock band Neon Trees and was able to be placed at number 94 of the Billboard Hot 100. In September 2013 he released his eighth album Atmosphere at number 16 of the Billboard 200 being his most successful work to date, in turn he is again nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance / Electronic Album, for his presentation he released the single “Atmosphere” where for the first time he plays as a vocalist putting his voice in this song.
In 2015, he gets a new Grammy nomination for the best recording remixed for his edited version of the single “Smile” for the Swedish duo Galantis.
In September of that same year he released his ninth studio album entitled Automatic through Warner Bros. Records. From this come singles such as “A Little More” (a co-production with John Dahlbäck), “Never Sleep Alone”, “Disarm You” and “We Do not Stop”. This album also has the collaboration of CID and Galantis in the production.
At the 2016 Grammy Awards he once again gets a nomination for best recording remixed for his remix of “Runaway (U & amp; I)” for Galantis.
Many people believe that Kaskade took its name from the Detroit band “the Kaskades”, who split up in late 2006. Actually, Kaskade took his stage name from a book on nature when he saw a picture of a waterfall and a colleague agreed that “cascade” would be a good choice, but he decided to change the way he wrote it.
