Jason D. Harrow (May 12, 1976) popularly known by his stage name Kardinal Offishall (pronounced / kɑ ː rdɪnæl oʊfɪʃæl / ), is a Canadian hip-hop singer and producer. He is credited as the “Hip-Hop Ambassador” and is well known for his hip-hop dancehall and reggae influence.

Jason D. Harrow was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Toronto, the son of immigrant parents from Jamaica. They later settled in the Oakwood-Vaughan neighborhood of York, Ontario, in the West End of Toronto. Harrow started rapping at the age of eight and was winning contests when he was 12. Also at the age of 12, he performed live and on stage for the first time, with Nelson Mandela assisting Mandela during his first visit to Toronto. In 1993, he decided to change his alias “KoolAid”, and went for the moniker “Kardinal Offishall” after being inspired by the great 17th century French politician Cardinal Richelieu.Kardinal was signed an editorial to deal with Warner / Chappell Music Canada at The age of 20. In 1996, he released his first single “Naughty Dread”, which was featured in the Rap Tome Essentials One compilation and earned him a Juno nomination for Best Rap Recording Award. In 1997, Kardinal released his debut album Eye & amp; I on Capitol Hill Music. The only one of the album, “On Wit Da Show”, had considerable video playback on MuchMusic. In 1998, he was featured in the Juno-only winner “North Pulse” with the Rascalz, Choclair, Jaque and Push.
