Jun Senoue (瀬 上 純, Senoue Jun ?, born on August 2, 1970 in Matsushima, Miyagi, Miyagi Prefecture, Tōhoku, Japan) is a musician and composer of video game soundtracks. He is known for some of his contributions to the Sonic the Hedgehog games. He is also the guitarist of the band Crush 40, who have also made several contributions to the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Jun started playing the piano at 3 years old in his native Japan. Later he moved to Panama, where Jun began to devote himself to playing rock music when he was just 12. He started playing the electric guitar at the age of 15, making his first original recording for a band when he was 17 years old.
In 1993, after graduating from university with a degree in economics from Aoyama Gakuin University in Japan, she started working for the videogame developer SEGA. One of his first contributions would be composing music for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, a series with which he would do his most important works, making compositions for more than 100 songs in Sonic Adventure, as well as being the audio director of that game.
Senoue moved to San Francisco to continue composing music and direct soundtracks for several games of the Sega Sonic Team USA games division, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, where he also contributed music with his band Crush 40. Senoue also composed several tracks and programmed all sound effects for the game Nights: Journey of Dreams.
In 2007, Jun composed 3 new songs for the Japanese release of OutRun 2 SP, including versions of existing series songs such as “Splash Wave” and “Rush a Difficulty”, and an original song titled “Lift You Up” ! ” These songs are also included in the album “Outrun 20th Anniversary”.
Senoue was also one of the 38 composers of the Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl console game, contributing to the theme “Angel Island Zone”, original Sonic the Hedgehog 3 game, as well as original versions of several songs of Crush 40, such as “Live and Learn”.
Jun was also sound director in the game Sonic and the Black Knight and one of the composers in the game Mario & amp; Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario & amp; Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.
In Fall 2009, Jun announced the release of a new album titled “The Works”, which is a compilation of songs he has made over the years, including only 3 songs from the Sonic series, plus of other compositions for other games. The album was released on October 21, 2009
Jun was also the sound director and the main music composer for the game Sonic the Hedgehog 4, released on October 10, 2010. He also worked on the Sonic Generations soundtrack.
