Judith Viorst (February 2, 1931) is an American writer, journalist and researcher. Recognized for her children’s literature, Judith wrote children’s books such as The Tenth Good Thing About Barney (about death of a pet) and the series of illustrated books Alexander, which includes Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (1972), which has sold about two million copies.
Viorst graduated in 1952 from the Newark College of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. In 1968, he took part in a protest against the payment of taxes related to the Vietnam War, and in the late 1970s, after two decades dedicated to children’s and adult literature, he focused on the study of Freudian psychology. . In 1981 she obtained the title of researcher at the Institute of Psychoanalysis in Washington after six years of studies.
