Judith Resnik Short Bio
Judith Arlene Resnik (Akron (Ohio), April 5, 1949 – January 28, 1986) was a NASA astronaut who died in the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger accident.
In 1966 he graduated from Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio; in 1970 he obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Mellon University and later, in 1977, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland.
After graduating from college, Resnik went on to work at the headquarters of the American Radio Company (RCA) in Moorestown, New Jersey; in 1971, she was transferred to the RCA headquarters in Springfield, Virginia where she worked as a design engineer, which included the design of circuits and the development of integrated circuits to be used in radar control systems; he dealt with the specification, project management and performance evaluation of control systems equipment; and also worked as a support engineer for NASA in the exploration rockets and telemetry systems programs. In this stage, she was the author of a work on design procedures for integrated circuits for special purposes.
From 1974 to 1977 she was a biomedical engineer and joined the staff of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where she conducted biological research experiments on the physiology of vision systems. Later, Resnik became a systems engineer in the development of products for the Xerox Company in El Segundo, California.
In January 1978, she was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate.
