Known for his work as leader and lead vocalist of the Creedence Clearwater Revival group responsible for the “Credence sound” popular in the late 60’s and later having a great success recording as a solo artist with hits like Rock and roll girls. He is recognized as one of the most outstanding singers, guitarists and composers in the history of rock and roll. Fogerty was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in El Cerrito (Contra Costa County, California), in the San Francisco Bay Area. Younger brother of guitarist Tom Fogerty, he attended El Cerrito High School with other members of Creedence Cleawater Revival and took guitar lessons from the Berkeley Folk Festival created and produced by Barry Olivier. He spent summer vacations at Putah Creek, near Winters, California, getting inspired by the theme of the song “Green River” (Green River) that would be successful with Creedence Clearwater Revival.
