Joey_Jordison’s Biography

He was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the oldest of three brothers, he has two sisters named Kate and Anne. He was raised in a rural area outside of Waukee. He embraced the music at an early age, because of the influence of his parents, on one occasion he said: – “They always sat me in front of the radio, instead of the TV”, “I immediately thought that Ozzy Osbourne was in charge”. At school he played drums and also participated in a Jazz band. His fondness for metal began when he was 6 years old, when he attended a concert by Ozzy Osbourne and he took the head of a bat with his mouth.

While still in school, he formed a band called Avanga, however, due to lack of motivation, the band disbanded. He worked at a gas station of the company “Sinclair”. While doing this, he joined the band Modifidious, along with Craig Jones, with whom they released a CD called “Sprawl”, in 1995 the band was dissolved. During his stay at Modifius, he also played guitar for a while in the band The Rejects, and Anal Blast , but then Paul Gray called him to join Slipknot, which at the time was called The Pale Ones, Joey accepted and joined. In the year 1996, Slipknot released its first album Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat, which only had 1000 copies. After this they released the album Slipknot and in 2001 they would release Iowa. After this Slipknot was in a hiatus.

During this time, Jordison re-mixed the song “The Fight Song” for Marilyn Manson and appeared in his video “Tainted Love”. In 2002, Jordison with Murderdolls and Tripp Eisen, form their second band in popularity, called Murderdolls.

He played without a mask in Murderdolls and recorded a CD called Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls. This band of glam metal / horror punk gained much fame, especially in the United Kingdom and Japan. When the Slipknot hiatus ended in 2005, the Murderdolls split up, as the singer started his solo career and released 3 albums, the last one was Skeletons 2008. Murderdolls came together again and released a new album entitled Women and Children Last which was released on August 31, 2010.

When he returned to Slipknot they recorded the album Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses, put on sale in 2005.

In the summer of 2004 during the Download Festival, Lars Ulrich the drummer of Metallica suffered a gastrointestinal indisposition, could not play and left that charge to Joey, to play the concert of just over an hour. In December of 2004 Joey replaced Frost, the drummer of the black metal band Satyricon during a tour of the United States. He also played drums on the “Rio Grande Blood” album by the Ministry band.

Joey also produces albums and is producing the album “Fire up the Blades” from the band 3 Inches of Blood.

Recently Joey answered a call from the band KoRn to play the drums on a tour they gave during the summer, for a while it was believed that Joey left Slipknot to collaborate with KoRn. Taking advantage of the free time during the break of Slipknot and the tour of Corey Taylor and James Root with Stone Sour, he expresses feeling very pleased and excited about this since he has been a fan of the band for a long time. After this tour with KoЯn, Jordison went directly to the studios for the recording of the next Slipknot album, which was scheduled for the end of 2008.

Jordison added, “This is bigger than a Grammy for me, you keep me alive, I can not thank you all enough, all the Rhythm staff, thank you, they are amazing, thanks to my family, friends, everyone. the amazing drummers who accompanied me, without them I would not be here either and in the end but not least, all my brothers in Slipknot, thanks again! “

On December 13, 2013 it was reported on the official Slipknot site that Joey would leave the band. On January 2, 2014 Joey in an official statement denied having left the band and is as surprised by the news as all the fans.

“To my friends, fans and associates, I would like to start the new year by clarifying the recent rumors and speculation about my departure from Slipknot.” I want to make it very clear that I have not left Slipknot. I have never lived with my life for the past 18 years, and I will never leave it to my fans. “This news has impacted and dazzled me as much as you, although there are many things I would like to say, I must keep silent about several details for now. I would like to thank you for your love and support, and wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. “
