Jhumpa Lahiri’s Biography

A daughter of Bengali parents, Jhumpa Lahiri grew up in Rhode Island, United States, where her parents moved when she was only two years old.He studied English, creative writing and comparative literature at Boston University and did also a doctorate in Renaissance studies.

In 2000 he won the Pulitzer Prize for his first book, a collection of short stories entitled Interpreter of Maladies. In 2003 he published his first novel, The Namesake (The Good Name), which a few years later would be taken to the cinema by Mira Nair.
